Tacos D’Marcelo Reviews
Got the 6 tacos with half pastor and half asada. This little taco place is a gem. The tortillas are authentic Mexican corn tortillas, this definitely makes the tacos 100%. The cheese, avocado, and grilled onion along with lime complete the "icing on the cake" I will be coming back and I will be bringing more friends along this time. In addition to the 6 tacos I also asked for an horchata (which tasted homemade) and charro beans (also homemade) all for under $10! You can't beat that!
They certainly serve some tasty tacos. We tried the pastor, bistek, barbacoa and deshebrada. All were quite flavorful. Barbacoa was fattier than I like, deshebrada was a bit dry. The highlight for me though was the generous helping of cooked onions. I could seriously make a meal of just those. Limonada and red salsa were both on point too. We'd certainly eat here again!
FOOD IS AMAZING! Customer service was alright, there are some nice waitresses but there are some that really don't look like they wanna be there.
After 10 years of not going, they're still bomb! If they tasted good before, they taste even better now! Way better than Ultimo Taco, hands down!
Let me start off by saying that I consider my self a taco connoisseur I've had my fair share of tacos in "the motherland" México and all over the State of Texas. But these tacos are very much so unique to Rio Grand Valley of Texas. A taco with everything in a usual taco spot consists of your choice of meat, cilantro, and onion. Here you get that plus avocado, queso fresco and a side of grilled onions and a Tupperware full of sliced limes. The salsas green and red are the perfect amount of salty, tarp and spicy an excellent companion for these superb tacos. The simple menu at Tacos de Marcelo consists of a few basic choices tacos, tostadas y flautas and a variety of meats. I tried Bistec, Pastor, Barbacoa and Tripas and they were all delicious. You can also upgrade your frijoles a la charra by adding Bistec, queso fresco and a slice of avocado I can't think of a better combination. The aguas frescas (horchata, limonada and jamaica) were excellent as well. Overall we left happy, full and content, I was certainly surprised this place didn't have more reviews?!?! We where invited here by family who live here locally, so I know this spot is where the locals go! If there were a way to give them 5 stars, two thumbs up and a ten out of ten I would. Definitely a must stop when you're in Brownsville.
My family and I were introduced to Tacos de Marcelo by our pastor. We have been going since then from San Benito (August 2016). Their parking is pretty tight, hours are great, place is usually busy (at least the times we've gone). The servers are friendly/helpful. We haven't had any issues with any, except for the attendee at the front who usually takes our payment. She seems a tad rude and seems to just want us out of the way, not wanting to build rapport with us at all. We usually order tacos and quesadillas. There has never been an issue with our orders. (The tacos of tripa are delicious, especially if you order them crispy!) They have lemonade and horchata, which are our go to drinks. Pretty decent place.
Great taste and prices for your tacos and menu selections. Great staff and food come out right away hot and fresh. It's better to eat there the quality of your food just tastes better tan taking it home and letting it get greasy. They just need more space for customers and parking. If they expand I'll change my 4 to 5 stars.
This place is the best I have had in the Brownsville area. I try tacos de tripa (tripe tacos) everywhere I can, and this location's tripa is the best I've ever had. I recommend a flour medium-well tripe taco (it's large!) to begin with. Their frijoles charros won't disappoint either! Visiting here is definitely a must when I visit from out of town.
